| I was really hoping to never have to make another post like this again .... but yet again. I was woken up by a call from my GF telling me she had bad news... its 2am and I thought I overslept yet again picking her up for work. Turns out that someone attempted to break into the Z again. Its been parked at her house for about the past week or so, because it decided to dump all its coolant on the street and I had refilled it and I just haven't had a chance to get it back to my house yet. Her street is in a nice quiet neighborhood that hasn't had any rash of break-ins in history. So its a nice neighborhood hence why I felt the Z was safe parked in front of their house for the week. Well tonight apparently someone liked what they saw and decided to break the driver's side window. But they were scared away b/c the stock alarm, which hasn't ever gone off when I've tried to set it off in recent history, actually went off. The alarm woke up my GF and all they heard was a car pulling away really fast down the street, no one saw what kind it was or color, so the cops can't really do anything So they got away with nothing. Unfortunately they did cause some damage; 1. driver side glass 2. weather stripping is ripped/torn/cut 3. dents on the t-top from them prying at the glass with what looked like a screwdriver, no crease just a shallow dent. 4. minor scratching on the door panel itself. I'll have to see what all this adds up to, in order to see if its worth reporting to insurance. My deductible is $500 so I'm thinking it'll be over that amount pretty easy. My original thought was they were trying to steal the car, as the stereo system in their is a piece of junk to anybody looking, plain looking headunit, no subs/amp. But, after the police showed up - I got the idea that maybe they were after the tools that were in the trunk. Turns out the lock on the car were still locked, but the trunk was released. They were after the tools, not the car. The tools were never left in the car overnight as I removed them on sunday after working on the car. So all that damage and nothing for them in return The first time this happened it was stored at my old apartment in a parking lot. That time they actually attempted to steal the car and caused $2k in damage b/c they tore the ignition up so bad. My old apartment isn't close to GF's house so I believe this to be another isolated incident.
